The Admission Process at Arnold Lodge School in 6 easy steps*:
*Please note that for Reception class only Steps 1, 2 and 6 apply – although taster mornings can be arranged if parents feel this would be beneficial to the child.
Step 1: Give us a call
If you agree that being in a nurturing environment is important for your child's social, moral and educational development then find out more about Arnold Lodge School by calling a member of our friendly admissions team on 07887 405584 for Junior Admissions (Reception to year 6) and 07826 526 367 for Senior Admissions (Year 7 to Year 12) or filling in the enquiry form below. We can also post out a prospectus or you can view it here.
Our admissions team will gather some information about you and your child. They will request that you email a copy of your child's latest school reports and any other reports that you may wish to share that help us know more about your child.
We accept pupils into all year groups but our main points of entry are Reception, Year 3, Year 7 and Year 12.
Step 2: Come and visit!
A member of our admissions team will then arrange a tour of the school with Mr Preston, the Headteacher, at a time that is convenient for you.
Your tour will provide you with an excellent insight into the caring and friendly environment we provide for our pupils. You will be able to see our teachers in action and ask questions you may have about the school day, curriculum and/or facilities.
Step 3: Book a taster day
There is no better way for your child to get a real feel for our school than to spend the day with us. We will place them in a class with their prospective peers and they will experience a day in the life of an Arnold Lodge pupil.
Step 4: Your child will sit the Cognitive Ability Test (CAT)
The CAT will be arranged on the same day as the taster day and will test your child's reasoning and problem solving abilities. The tests are not intimidating and are completed in a friendly, relaxed environment.
The test consists of verbal, quantitative, and non-verbal elements. This test is used to measure your child's potential and as a tool to assess their progress when they move through the school. Our focus is on the value we can add to your child's education - not just their academic attainment to date.
Step 5: Information gathering
After the tour and taster day, a school reference will be sought from your child’s current school and the Headteacher will consider the application by looking at the feedback from Arnold Lodge staff, the school report and the CAT result.
A place will be offered or declined at this stage.
Step 6: It’s your decision!
By this stage in the process you will probably have a clear idea of whether or not Arnold Lodge is the right school for your child. However, if you and your child feel a second taster day would be useful then our admissions team will happily arrange it. We want everyone to feel happy with the final decision!
In order to secure a place at Arnold Lodge we ask for our registration form to be completed and returned along with the payment of our £200 deposit (returned when child leaves Arnold Lodge School) and £50 (non-refundable) registration fee.
Once we have received the registration form and deposit to secure the place, we will send you out a Welcome Pack.
